The caravan site rests on a vast 4000 acres of lush parkland where guest are more than welcome to stroll, cycle or ride across the grounds. A safe play area is quite popular with the small adventurers, who can zip about, burn pent up energy, and make new friends. The sprawling grounds are excellent for kids due to the site once forming part of Sherwood Forest, with an abundance of reminders of its famous resident, Robin Hood. History buffs are certain to find the house's history very intriguing, and there is plenty of evidence of the magnificent historic buildings that stood on these grounds that once fell under the ownership of the Dukes of Newcastle. The Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre, set a mere ten miles from the campsite, is an excellent spot for family fun, providing a range of entertainment and education on the legendary Robin Hood. A visit to the Major Oak is a must-see, as Robin, alongside his merry men, are said to have hidden among its leafy branches.
