Set up camp amid the inspirational scenery that stirred the heart and mind of Dylan Thomas as he penned his verses at Brook House Camping, a compact, simple and utterly serene campsite nestled in the stunning Carmarthenshire countryside. Sit back and savour the relaxing atmosphere paired with the gentle trills of birdsong from the woodlands behind the grounds as you savour open farmland vistas stretching down to the Gower peninsula. This splendid site is the perfect base for wildlife watching, so feel free to bring along your binoculars to take in the sights of the surrounding area, called Cwm Curyll, or the Valley of the Hawk. Follow the 10-minute Dylan’s Walk that kicks off from Laugharne centre, meandering past the Writing Shed and concluding at the Boat House, where the acclaimed poet spent his final years. Browse through the small exhibition before drinking in the spectacular views over the Taf estuary and Gower peninsula. Bring your field glasses along to spot more birdlife like egrets and herons or cute seals and otters. Make your way back to base with a stick of bits and nibbles to slap on the barbeque grill as you await a dazzling display of stars. The site holds powered optional grass bases for tents and touring vehicles. Pets welcome.
