YHA Wilderhope Manor is a quiet, simple campsite set on the grounds of a stunning listed Elizabethan manor house, positioned a trifling 5-minute drive from the picturesque village of Longville. Soak in the verdant settings of the famed Shropshire Hills, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and melt away the stress and complication of modern life as you drink in the open, verdant surroundings and gaze up the sparkling starry skies. Lack of light pollution in these unspoiled parts ensures a glittering display at night – a perfect accompaniment to a sizzling alfresco barbeque and sing-along around the crackling flames. There are plenty of scenic walks to pick from, including a path those winds to Brown Clee. Explore the fertile environs of the Carding Valley and the Long Mynd (located 20-mins away), or hop in a canoe and take in the sights as you glide along the River Severn (also 20-minutes away). Retreat to base to sate your appetite with a piping hot meal courtesy of the grill, or eat at the restaurant, which serves up delicious breakfasts, an all-day menu, and a supper menu for nightly socialising. There are non-electric grass pitches, and self-catering stays in a tastefully restored self-catering hostel. Pets most welcome.
