Lovers of green open fields, big skies, serenity and wildlife will have a hard time saying goodbye to the clifftop settings at Wold Farm Campsite. This beautiful, peaceful site rests in enticing isolation on a massive, chalk headland that makes up Flamborough Head, near Bridlington. Several camping fields offer ample room for stretching out and truly getting into the swing of your holiday, with uninterrupted views over the sheep-sprinkled fields to the imposing Flamborough lighthouses, topped off with a sparkling sliver of ocean. Once you’ve let out a sigh of contentment and congratulated yourself on taking a much-needed escape from the rat race, set about getting better acquainted with the stunning surroundings. Birdwatchers, walkers and beach lovers will adore the glorious landscape, crisscrossed with clifftop walks, the chance to observe a variety of birdlife, and miles of coast beaches temptingly strewn in both directions. Hop on the site’s 5-minute private footpath to the jagged cliffs and sit down to observe puffins going about their day. Amble over with a well-stocked hamper, and you’ll have an afternoon of nibbles and puffin antics to enjoy. The nearby village of Flamborough has a handful of pubs serving up refreshing bevvies and excellent, piping hot food – ideal for refuelling after a day of sun, sea and sand. Pets are most welcome.
