Tucked away in the picturesque village of Colton lies the peaceful campsite of Champs Field, providing campers with the feel of being hidden away from it all while affording easy access to the cosmopolitan city of York, located a smooth 5-miles from the base. The campsite also rests close to bustling settlements like Leeds and Harrogate, yet holds a peaceful atmosphere on-site, making it seem like the cities and towns are miles away from the base. Wake up to the sounds of a working farm, home to cows and chickens, which graze the surrounding fields. The camping field itself was home to the owner’s pony, Champ, who lived a healthy and long life to the age of 37 years old. Guests can observe the chickens scratching in the field next to the campsite and even make friends with inquisitive fowls who may come to have a nose around the campers. The perk of camping out on a working farm is the access to fresh food straight off the farm shop. Beef products (the farm supplies Waitrose), fresh farm produce and products from farms in the area are available at the farm shop. Campfires are also encouraged, and wood is available for purchase at the farm shop. Sorry, no pets are allowed.
