Becka, the dog, is most likely the first amiable welcome you get when you rumble through the gates of this traditional style pub. The site serves as an excellent base for exploring the surroundings and a safe space to rest your head for the night. There is a well-maintained grassed area beyond the car park with spacious pitches and optional electric connections. Facilities are basic yet clean and include a toilet block, freshwater points and chemical disposal. Families with kids can usher the youngster together for an afternoon at the children’s play area while parents nibble on snacks and keep a watchful eye from the comforts of the well-placed picnic tables and benches. Guests can also reach the town of Thirsk via a 2-mile walk or a shorter bus ride, which stops right outside the campsite. Pets are welcome.
