Byreside Caravan Site rests on a friendly, family-run farm, nestled amid the lush and historic landscape of the Derwent Valley. Secluded and quiet, the spacious campsite is a hot spot for observing local wildlife and soaking in the views of the rolling, green countryside around. Trot over to the woods and tread quietly in hopes of spotting timid deer, frolicsome foxes and other wildlife. Turn your gaze towards the heavens for sightings of red kites gliding over the site. Walkers and cyclists will have hours of peaceful walking and cycling to enjoy, including routes in the Derwent Walk Country Park, which link up to Waskerley Way or Lanchester Valley Walk. The area brims with rich history, providing many attractions for those who enjoy gathering knowledge of England’s long and fruitful past. Rumble over to the sleepy village of Ebchester to explore its Roman Museum or take a tour around the Derwentcote Blast Furnace, a relic from the booming Industrial Revolution, nearby. Explore Gibside Chapel, the mausoleum of the Bowes family, in the nearby valley from Byreside, or swap the walking for viewsome steam railway journey from Tanfield Railway. Rumble or walk back to the base in time for a lovely sunset, or find a pub nearby for refreshing tipple. Byreside Caravan Site does not accept tents. Dogs are welcome.
