Thirlmere shimmers and sparkles under the towering peaks of Blencathra and Skiddaw in the backdrop and serves as an ideal spot for hardy hikers, resting easy 7-miles’ from the base. A 10-minute stroll leads to Derwentwater, an excellent base for launching boats. Ullswater and Windemere are half an hour’s drive away, and a handy bus stop at the end of the lane rumbles to these destinations frequently.
