YHA Helvellyn enjoys a peaceful and unique location, nestled 963-feet up one of the largest mountains in the UK. The site rests amid the stunning scenery of the Lake District and serves as an incredible base for exploring the second highest mountain in the national park. Guests who want to head up the mountain and field trips will find the perfectly positioned site an excellent stop to rest for a night or more. Mountaineers and walking groups are spoilt for choice, while school groups can get into the open-air activities on offer, including rock climbing and abseiling. Mountain bikers can zip downhill from the mountains and enjoy a challenging yet rewarding ride from the summit. Guests who prefer gentler walks can select from a wide range of less strenuous walking routes kicking off right from the campsite's doorstep. The ski slope with a drag lift comes to life during the winter months and rests an ideal 40-minute stroll from YHA Helvellyn. Watersport groups can visit Ullswater Lake and marvel at the stunning waters that inspired the likes of Wordsworth and Coleridge. After a long and active day in the crags, trudge back to the base and sit down to delicious meals, including breakfast, lunch, and evening meals. No pets are allowed, but service animals are welcome.
