Feather Down Country Retreats is a lovely site positioned in a scenic location near a beautiful lake. The site rests on the grounds of some of England’s most stunning estates, marrying the delights of wild camping with luxurious abodes for a well-earned escape from the rat race. Soak in the stunning scenery of the site as you rumble through the gates and take in the shimmering lake, a hill rising from the shores of the water and quintessentially English countryside character that provides an excellent ambience and scenery for a restful holiday. The site rests on the edge of the naturally striking Lake District National Park and is entirely private, ensuring an absence of the noisy crowds that frequent Windermere. Enjoy the thrills of having Grizedale Fell, Nicky Nook and other natural features entirely to yourself at this spacious and tranquil site. Owners Sally and James Whewell are the proud owners of this splendid estate and live in a house constructed in the 19th-century for industrialist turned banker, Captain Ormrod. Take a stroll through the pleasure gardens, exquisite stone construction, and flora from around the world as you soak in the wealth of the era. The Whewell children once frolicked on the grounds, splashing and sailing wooden boats on the lake, building campfires in the woods and enjoying the space for open-air adventures. The site offers sumptuous bell tents with proper beds, a roomy dining area, flushing loos and woodburning stoves. Campfires are encouraged, and pets are welcome.
