Merrylands is a cracking campsite operated by campers in rural Sussex, offering two main camping fields with level pitches. The site rests on a peaceful organic farm and encourages the delights of traditional camping like open fires. Free spirits will love the opportunity to turn up and set up camp in a corner that takes their fancy, as there are no set pitches on the premises. The site offers non-electric grass pitches for tents only, with shared access to a clean communal toilet block, hot showers, a pot washing area, drinking water points, and recycling conveniences. Wake up to the sounds of the countryside, consisting of birdsong, the distant tolling of a church bell and the clip-clop of a passing horse, and fall asleep to the crackling campfire and the lovely smell of wood smoke. The owners aim to create a site with a minimal impact on the land, offering waterless and smell-free toilets, allowing waste to return to nature. Recyclable waste, including tins, cans, glass and plastic bottles are sorted on the premises: however, the owners ask that non-recyclable items like plastic wrappers be taken on departure. Merrylands welcomes families, and children can camp for free. Dogs are welcome as long as they remain on leads as the site rests amid livestock farms.
