It’s members-only at Larkfield, a Camping and Caravanning Club certified site, ideally positioned for exploring the quaint, honey-coloured villages and market towns in the Cotswolds. The family-friendly site rests just outside Chipping Norton (or Chippy as the locals fondly call it), a lively market town holding a range of shops, pubs, tea rooms, cafes and restaurants. There is also a seasonal outdoor pool and the Chipping Norton Theatre for guests who want to cool down or inject a little culture into a road trip. If the sweltering summer heat has one parched, a visit to the Hook Norton Brewery is certain to liven spirits. History buffs are welcome to explore the Neolithic and Bronze Age megalithic monuments at the Rollright Stones or tour the sprawling gardens and stately homes at Blenheim Palace and Sudeley Castle. Outdoor lovers can shun the bustling settlements for green, open spaces on a variety of local walks and cycling routes. There are coarse fishing lakes for anglers and two golf clubs within a three-mile distance from the campsite. Plonk down on your spacious grass touring pitch with electricity, and soak in the sunset as crackling fire browns your barbeque bits for alfresco nibbles. Dogs welcome all year.
