Ben, the owner of Summerhill Farm, is quite proud of his excellent camping space that rests on a 90-acre organic farm, surrounded by beautiful scenery and peace. He invites campers to come by and savour an enticing slice of the rural lifestyle, where birdsong acts as a morning alarm, and crackling campfires create the soothing backdrop for quiet nights of slumber. Ben and his charming wife Alice lovingly rear a collection of farm animals, including 500 hens, 200 geese, sheep and pure-bred Red Ruby cows on an organic farm, and welcome adventuring sorts from all walks of life with open arms. You’ll see Ben and Alice taking care of things on the farm, and Ben is only too happy to pop by and ask guests if they’re enjoying their escape. The answer is always positive. There are three yurts and one bell tent for hire, each generously spaced for privacy, boasting stunning vistas down the valley. The cheery owners have taken great care to tastefully furnish the units, stocking them with fresh eggs (thank Ben’s dear old hens), bread, butter, milk, sugar, tea and coffee. There is a massive kitchen with an honesty fridge and larder, eliminating the bother of driving into town for grub – delightful! Ben and Alice love dogs and welcome yours with open arms.
