A quick look at the reviews for Riverside Lakes will hearten a camper's heart and make one want to rumble over as soon as the weekend or school holidays are in session. This is quite a lovely spot for pitching or parking, up and the generous owners' Maggie and Nigel, are welcoming as they are creative, offering a well-maintained and well thought out site that has flourished under their guidance. The owners and their sons took over this lush 15-acre site, along with the resident ducks, swans, Chinese geese, chickens and cat. Today, the campsite is a well-loved spot for guests of all ages and promises idyllic settings for a rejuvenating escape. Brightly coloured wildflowers create a lovely atmosphere, and one can sit down in the long grass and watch the butterflies flitter between the buds as the nippers tear along the woodland and kale paths on-site. Parents can sit back with a sigh of contentment and enjoy a little me-time as the squirts climb trees, gleefully swing around on rope-tyre swings, help their dads fish, and make friends with the resident piglets. The wild grass creates a wall, and all sedentary campers will only see the smoke and smell the occasional tantalizing aromas wafting from a sputtering barbeque grill. Dogs and quiet groups are most welcome.
