Garrison Campsite is a small site compact enough to remain private and personal, yet large enough to withdraw into a quiet corner and remain relatively antisocial if required. The layout of the camping area provides a level of privacy while thriving local wildlife offer plenty to observe during those idyllic days you decide to kick back and watch the world go by, perhaps with a bevvie of choice in hand. The hedgehogs are pretty famous, having featured on a BBC programme by Ray Mears, and the thrush are relatively indifferent to the guests, often coming quite close before taking flight to the nearest tree. Stunning views over the ocean paired with easy access to the town located a quick stroll away make this an ideal base for returning to nature and rejuvenating a soul beaten by the monotonous nine to five. The pitches with ten electric connections rest within 6.87-acres of mature grounds and (as the name implies) rest on a former military garrison. Letting cottages and the owner’s house with five bedrooms also offer accommodation for non-camping types. A well-stocked shop has essentials like bread, milk, cereals, frozen foods, beer, wine and more. One dog per party is welcome.
