Point of Ness

Point of Ness is a peaceful, spacious campsite enjoying a beautiful position bounded by water on both sides, just three minutes trot from the ferry terminal and town centre. Campers may set up camp on this friendly site and sit back as the stunning views of the island of Hoy and its lovely bay, and the town of Stromness as seabirds glide overhead, and a cold drink of choice compliments the peaceful atmosphere. This council-run site is well-maintained and organized, serving as an excellent base for exploring Stromness as well as the Orkney mainland. The warden is at hand to welcome new arrivals with a warm welcome, answer all niggling questions and set out the guidelines for the site. Settle into your generous seafront plot overlooking the bay, and shake off the stress of everyday life as the scenic surrounds soothe the soul. Hardstanding and grass plots are available with and without electric hookups. Communal facilities are clean and include toilets, hot showers, a washing up area, laundry, drinking water points, chemical disposal and disabled-friendly conveniences. A row of steps through a gate in the fence leads directly to the sea, so pop by for quiet morning walks, afternoons of sunbathing and memorable sunsets with the kids and canine in tow.
