If outdoor adventures and tranquil natural settings are high on your list of must-haves, Garlieston Lodge is the perfect spot to pitch a tent or roll up in a camper or motorhome. The serene campsite rests within the lovely village of Garlieston and rests on spacious five-acre woodland with a pleasant sparkling river cutting through the area. The river feeds Garlieston’s small, well-stocked trout fishery that holds a variety of species like brown trout, rainbow, tiger, blue and brook trout. Guests can look forward to sharing the site with a small herd of rare all-black pigs, geese, ducks, and free-range hens. The lodge was first erected in the 1800s and as a gate lodge for the existing campsite and remained tucked away on its woodlands with access to exciting attractions nearby. History buffs will enjoy discovering the maritime history of the Garlieston Harbour. At the same time, birdwatching enthusiasts can trot over to the conservation reserve nearby for relaxing days out observing curlew, pintail, pink-footed geese, and whooper swans. The picturesque coastal village of Garlieston has a pub serving homemade food, coffee and tea, while the village grocery store stocks camping essentials. Dogs are welcome at the site: however, kids are not permitted to stay on the premises.
