New House Farm is a hill farm, tucked away in the rolling Radnorshire hills, a smooth seven miles from the renowned book town of Hay-on-Wye, and just fifteen-miles from the amenities of the lively market town of Builth Wells. The no-frill campsite rests a mile down a quiet road leading nowhere and consists of a simple, sloping field at the left of the farmhouse. Hedges surround the camping area on both sides, and on the other side, a fence separates the neighbour’s field, which houses several placid sheep. There is a designated campfire corner at the top of the field, a spacious, welcoming communal area where campers can bond while browning marshmallows while saving the grass from suffering from the burnt dark spots that usually accompany a campfire. The farmhouse conservatory turns into a delectable dining experience, owing to a heavenly spread of delicious home-cooked food prepared with the freshest ingredients from the farm itself. If you’re worried about crashing the party, just look for the invitation pinned on a noticeboard near the gate. Work off the heavenly meal with explores on the surrounding Radnorshire Hills, which are a quieter alternative to the tourist-packed Beacons, and boast more of an uncharted territory atmosphere.
